Your problem is just below your name in the top left of your posts

"Central Valley, CA"

It costs more than $1 gallon to formulate CA gas plus very high gas tax and you will never see $1 gas even with negative oil prices.

Saw a local station near me - $1.29 cash, or $1.39 credit. A Mobil station just down the street from them was $1.49 cash, or $1.59 for credit.

I would be enjoying this SO much more if the world around us was not collapsing!

I paid $1.96 the other day. Good news, gas is cheap, bad news, they just announced they are shutting down the state and other than to the grocery store or pharmacy, we can’t drive!

$2.19 today because of the Governor's 30 cent a gallon infrastructure tax.

Don't you love it when Billionaire politicians tax the middle class and not even think twice about it....

Down about 30 cents since the collapse started but can't see it getting crazy cheap because this is PA and tax alone is probably a buck / gal.

Re: GASOLINE ? ..... How much is yours ? - 03/22/20 04:37 PM

Sure is nice having cheap gas right now but think about it... many people don't have to drive to work, there isn't many stores open to go to, long distance trips to visit relatives on your free time are not smart to do. People aren't driving as much so demand for the cheap gas isn't using the available supply. So, I'd venture to guess prices will continue to fall. The refineries can only hold X amount in storage in unsold supply. The only thing that can curtail the drop is if refineries start to scale back production.

Because the tax doesn’t go down...

The price of a barrel of oil never has a direct relationship to the price of gas... as in, it doesn't go down exactly "X" cents for every $1 reduction every time.
However the spot price of refined RBOB Gas usually does... Take that price add State & Fed taxes, plus a margin it's usually pretty easy to see where the price is going to go, either up or down. But clearly that's not the case now.... Jan RBOB was $1.65/g Yesterday it was $0.42 eek Today it was back around $0.55... but still over a dollar lower than it was 2 months ago. One would think gas should soon be a buck lower than it was in Jan based on the price of refined wholesale gas. But around here we are only down about 45 cents... so far.

I don't disagree with your main premise, but say if crude goes up a $1.00, and gas then goes up $.07, the next day, and a week later crude goes down a $1, followed by gas going down 5? days later $.03, and increases are always blamed on the increase cost of crude, its rather hard IMO to argue with my premise of the whole announced price basis told the public is really just BS, it's really just supply and demand, get as much as the market will bare.
