wire crimpers

im in the market for a pair,dont want real big buck ones that do everything except make coffee,just a pair that do a excellent job that are not real big bucks im ashamed to say my $1 globemaster ones are about worn out (remember that name?),your opinion is wanted

Different crimpers for different terminals.

I have 5 or 6 pairs, all for different style terminals,

I had tried to crimp with these for some speaker ends. Gave way after a while.

The best crimping tool is a soldering iron.

Hold the terminal with a pair of pliers, use a lighter to melt the plastic at the crimp end and remove it. Slip some heat shrink over the wire, solder the terminal on, use the heat shrink to replace the insulation melted off in step one. Your mileage may vary, some crimp connections stay tight, a good solder job never comes loose.

i have a bunch of different crimpers as well as several modified sets of pliers and a couple of hydraulic crimping tools used on really big gauge stuff like battery terminals and welding cables.
i also, at times, remove the insulation, crimp, solder, then use shrink tube.

I'm up to 5 different crimpers now, though one's a backup, for pretty much everything from battery cables to plug wires to 22 gauge...
I agree with removing those clunky plastic sleeves on connectors, but mostly use the uninsulated ones with shrink-tube.

I broke my 30ish year old crimpers a couple months back. Did the new fangled stuff, broke them, and went back to old school, if you have a good squeeze there's no need for compound leverage on the smaller stuff.

for all around use those are hard to beat. Have a pair for the garage and In the road kit.

I have a pair similar to these. For crimping ends on they are very hard to beat.

My only regret with them is that I didn't buy them BEFORE I rewired my race car.

Crimps 10-22 gauge terminals.

If you are doing open barrel/f type then you should get a type specific crimper.

I recently got this from Amazon. It's got five sets of different crimpers. The set that does the factory style crimp is only so-so, in part because it is too wide. It also came with a relatively square set that is perfect for the aftermarket style connectors.

i looked on youtube and seen titan crimpers,they do a double crimp,most likely what ill buy

I've no fewer than 8 pr of various for various jobs. for most small electric stuff (car stuff) I use a MAC Tools TCT-10. It's something very similar to WGGE WG-015. The pair I own is 40+ yrs old and still do everything I throw at them. I believe I use the machine screw cutters more than any of the other fitments save for the wire cutter.

That is like asking which socket to buy? You need a different socket for each size of bolt and you'll need different crimpers for different connectors. Wetherpack, Metripack, Packard 50, etc. all require different crimpers. I think I have about 10 different crimpers now that I'm working on EFI systems. EFI uses a lot of Metripack and GT connectors but they also throw in some oddball OEM stuff that I've never seen before.

I have a generic pair like this, which is really nice if you want to crimp to the insulation as well as the actual wire.
