he should have used some of the $$$ spent buying toolboxes and built a real garage to store them in instead of a carport with a tarp on 1 side.

He could be driving a Hellcat for what that setup cost him.

One of my customers has a Matco Box like that, they call it the wall because that it fills one at his shop. He recently added on to his shop and dispelled many jokes and rumors by rolling that big sucker over to the new wing of the shop "see it does roll!". Crazy money though wow.

iagree But doesn't being a stealership mechanic force you into buying tools constantly? Doc didn't mention if it was a backyard guy selling.

honestly in my opinion the owner is probably a snap on dealer. all of those boxes were trade ins or repo's.

Im thinking dealer .

I cant imagine ANY tech needing that much tool box space. Although I do know a few guys with setups about half that size. So then again ,,,just maybe Im wrong

With them being all Snap-on boxes it pains me to think how much $$$ ,,,,,,, there's what $40K plus just in boxes?
Then to fill those would be ugly

When I saw that listing I HAD to snatch that pic ! I went back a day or so again and it was gone.

I think he said he wanted 12 or 13 go the whole package !

Yeah I can’t IMAGINE what the cost would be to FILL all those !

Here’s MINE ..... along with about 4 of those cheapy rollaways and 5 tool carts !

New? Not even close.

I like the guys who have a big roll-a-way and when you look in it, there's a couple of drawers with some wrenches, sockets & ratchets, screwdriver set, some pliers, and the rest of it is full of old hardware, parts, spray cans and assorted trash.

Some guys just buy and collect the stuff. If I'm collecting something, even if I like it, I'd want the investment to do better than be worth more than 50 or 60 cents on the dollar, if that,

Many moons ago I had a good customer who was a Mac dealer I think.

He would try and make each one of his customers “jealous” of the other mechanics better and bigger box and each would try and outdo each other!!

And those Mac snapon or matco boxes aren’t as economically priced like the HarborFreight ones.

I think I remember seeing a topic on that some time ago. I can’t remember seeing anyone dissing the HF units

Probably doesn't have or never had a tool in any of it...............just a bunch of old car parts, magazines and wish lists, spent all of the money on those tool boxes laugh2

Well, it's all relative. I don't buy much of anything except Snap-On. Nothing wrong with buying good stuff. But I don't have piles of stuff still new in the wrapper. It's all been used at least once. If you can throw down the money for all that garage bling, great. But I've seen some guys have a first class rig like that full of new stuff, hand the Snappy guy most of his paycheck every week, live in a shack and drive an old beat up Saturn. Makes no sense.

Good tools are an investment. But if you ever want/need to sell them, the depreciation is murder. Especially on boxes. At this point I'm not above looking for mint used or new stuff for sale and let someone else take that hit. Used Snappy is still way better than new China junk.
