Oh crap...

Have seen Rush perform live twice, and always have been a fan of the band.

Peart had gone through much tragedy in the late 1990s with the loss of his daughter and wife within the same year. He had then temporarily quit music and went on an extended road trip on his motorcycle, chronicled in the book Ghost Rider: Travels on the Healing Road, in interesting read on how he fought for his will to live by traveling over much of the continent.

RIP, Neil. You will be missed but your lyrics and drumming will live on...

I have seen Rush 8 times, Working Man is one of my favorite songs, but done before Neil joined the band. I last saw them at Summerfest in Milwaukee in 2013, they always rocked! RIP Mr. Peart, the professor of drummers... angel

I can't stand Rush. Seriously - they're probably one of my least favorite rock bands. BUT, I've always loved Peart's drumming, so when a Rush song comes on the radio, I usually don't change the channel. From the interviews that I've read, Peart (and the rest of the guys from Rush) seem like great guys. I'm sad to hear that he's gone (and 67 years is way too soon). RIP angel

Wow that is terrible news. Saw Rush 12 times. The entire band are some of the most talented musicians ever. Neils drumming and writing is pretty much unmatched. A real loss to the world. angel

My favorite band for the majority of my life! Saw them only once. Quite possibly the greatest drummer we will ever know! I think he was an absolute incredible lyricist as well! I truly nice guy.
RIP Neil

I never saw Rush but I recognize what a driving force Peart was to Rush and the rest of the music world.

I discovered Rush in and around 81 when Moving Pictures came out. I think I wore out Farewell To Kings album on my turntable. I think I have concert stubs from six different shows tucked into some CD cases. I always enjoyed their live performances. I will miss knowing that the magic of the three of them can never be witnessed again. RIP Neil, your legacy lives on.

14 times seeing them live for me. Every tour since Presto. I’ve seen them in Michigan, California and Canada.

RIP Neil. We lost the best.

Ive never seen them live, Sure wish I had. One of my favorite bands for many years. Not sure I can pick one favorite song of theres

I saw a documentary / interview a few years ago where Peart delved into the technical aspect of the drums. it was obvious he REALLY loved what he did.

The music industry and the fans lost a great one this week.

May he rest in peace.

This is a Tribute to Neil Peart, Rush, when I was at Fondren Jr high, this was about 1977,
I had traded my 10 speed bike for my 1st car, it was a Black 68 Dodge Charger, Rush was my favorite band I LOVED 2112, I would dream of getting my license & driving my 68 Charger around with 2112 cranked up on the car stereo, never got to do it,MANY years later, this is pretty close though.

Not a rush fan at all, but the talent is undeniable, and he seemed like a great guy. I listened to Jim Ladd's 2015 interview with him yesterday, and he seemed so kind, such a good sense of humor, and so humble. He had a difficult life, too. Lost his daughter and wife within a year or so of each other. He died from Gliolblastoma. The fact that he made it 3 years is surprising. Most make it 12-18 months. My sister made it 17, died in December 2018. It's a horrific death, one that I wouldn't wish on anyone. RIP.

Listened to that interview also and my take was he was a genuine good person that lived life to the max. Taking the back roads to your next gig on a bike sounds like a dream to me. His take on the planet was informative but not offensive like some tree huggers like to preach.
I've always been a RUSH fan sine about '74 when I first heard them on WMMS back in the day.

I never saw them live, unfortunately. My brother and his friends went to see them for the Roll the Bones tour. I think my favorite song is" Bravado", but I'm not sure how to pick just one. As a drummer for my high school years, he was always my hero on the skins. RIP sir.

Such a huge loss for everyone who loves not just rock music, but music in general. Neil was the backbone of Rush, and IMO THE best drummer in the last 50 years
of "rock" drummers. R.I.P. Mr. Peart ....you will be missed indeed. drumhit beer angel

Because I do things to entertain myself. If someone else is entertained by it, I consider that a bonus.
That is why I am happier than most people.
