Nah, I've always felt those looked like a totally tacked-on addition that does NOTHING for the otherwise smooth lines of the car.

And those Teslas? Those look like they were designed to have a grille opening there and it just got closed up as an afterthought. Really not a great look for the car, especially when there are some Teslas that are really sleek looking.

Being electric, I guess it would have been silly to put in even a fake grill like Chrysler did with Sebrings.......

This is true! Remember I owned a ‘71 Road Runner. They aren’t exactly universally loved by the Mopar faithful. The orange and black interior could be a love/hate thing for some folks too. 👍

Any "Pulp Fiction" fans here? Everytime I see a black Tesla, especially a Model 3, I think of the Gimp. Needs a zipper on the front where it looks like the grille should be.

Yep, which is why I don't understand why those Teslas have a design element that looks like a grille SHOULD have been in that spot. So many other things they could do to style that front end. Instead it ends up the object of ridicule like that retouched photo above. laugh2

Agreed, I think it was a bad idea to put that flat ridged area on the front of the Model 3.

Don't forget that the earlier Model S had the visual cues of a grille there to make the car meet customers' expectations of what a car should look like, but the grille had basically no function.

Those Sebrings were bottom breathers, and didn't need the upper grille opening, so I suspect that Chrysler styled it to please a more conservative customer base that expected it to have a grille.

The Avenger (same Diamond Star platform) took a different direction, though, and eliminated the upper grille.

'97-'00 Sebrings had a partially open grille (the top half) that actually did feed to the radiator, though.
