68/69 A body 383-only Pitman Arm

68/69 A body 383-only Pitman Arm - 09/28/08 06:43 PM

I purchased a NOS in-the-box 1969 3004809 A Body 383-only Pitman arm attached pic. I have attempted to document the differences with the 2835745 1968 A-Body 'regular' Pitman. Although they span different years, assumption is only the part number changed in 69 (i.e. 1968 A-Body 383-only Pitman is same design). It is small sector shaft opening.

I clamped both Pitmans on edge of plywood board 'clocked' identically.

383 pitman is about 3/8 inch shorter in height, and 3/8 inch less in depth or extension from steering shaft.

Also note yellow paint on the part - perhaps to identify as a 383 version?

Hope this helps

Thanks for taking the time to do this. I have a '69 383 GTS and never guessed there was a difference.

I have a new in box aftermarket pittman arm that I thought was for a BB A-body, but someone told me I was wrong. It sure does look a lot like those. I cant post a pic here but if someone could pm me there e-mail I can send a pic I have. I would just like to know for sure.
