I got long awaited b body gasket ready to install.Should it be sealed like service manual said back in the day, or some say no sealer needed as not every day driver or in bad weather. My car wouldn't be what it is without the help of many here! Thanks

Had the front windshield installed recently, the pro only used WD 40 to lube the gasket and that was it, nothing else.
The car is garaged all the time, not a daily driver..
I would do as the manual says.I had my front one put in by a pro and he put urethane around the glass and gasket in the zip lock part and it leaked horribly.He did not put anything on the lower pinchweld and that is why it leaked.I showed him the manual and he's coming back to do it again,this time with the 3m bedding compound that the factory calls for on the pinchweld.Yes it is still avalible.

On the B body gasket, sealant (NO SILICONES) Byutul, Acrylic, Urehatane, etc 12" up the A frame, starting from the lower corner of the A frame, and 12" from the lower corner of the A frame, towards the center of the windshield, basically creating 2 "L" shaped beads on both lower corners, then install the gasket, the windshield needs no sealant in the gasket, there's no need for sealant in the upper corners either,....my windshield has been in for 7 years, driven in the rain, (monsoons at times) with no leaks at all, with the acylic or ureathane sealers you need to work quicklt though as they set up rather fast,..if you've never done a gasket install, it's worth the money to have a pro come and do it!...DAMHIK

After hitting a feathered friend (don't know how friendly he was) bust out my windshield on my charger, I had a local guy come and install the new glass with a new rubber seal that I provided. He refused to use any kind of sealant (even though I had the correct liquid butyl that the factory service manual calls for and showed him the manual pages also) and said if it leaks that he will come back. Blah blah blah, hes been doing this 30 plus years blah blah blah and has never had any leaks. Knowing that it would probably leak and I would never use this guy again, I watched him closely how he installed the glass and he was even telling me exactly how he was doing everything. He said the key is to keep the rubber lubricated with something (in his case, he used foaming glass cleaner) and slowly work the rubber and glass in occasionally smacking the glass with the heel part of the palm of his hand to "set" the glass in place. Two hours after he left and still feeling steamed about him not doing it the way the FSM said to do it, I pulled all the trim off myself and went at it. Got the windshield out no problems and laid it on a piece of foam rubber on my roof of the charger. I then removed the rubber gasket and wiped down the area where the gasket went in place and then used the liquid butyl all around it focusing mainly on the bottom channel and bottom corners. I carefully reinstalled the glass the next day after the butyl had a chance to set up a little and to this date, no leaks!

auto body shop. It was made by 3M. 3M Automotive Bedding & Glazing Compound. Black. Part no. (small numbers) 051135 (big bold numbers) 08509 . Comes in a 10 fl oz. caulking tube.

I mainly figured that I was so pissed off that he arrogantly refused to do what the factory service manual said that I took matters into my own hands. I figured if it broke then I would have someone else come and do it and do it right! whats the saying.... "necessity is the mother of invention"?

I have heard that also from certain places I checked into replacing my windshield. The problem is once they use the urethane sealant, it ruins the rubber gasket as it will never come off. Another reason why to find an old school guy to install it or do it yourself.
