70 Challenger 383 , Best replacement Carb - 09/22/08 04:42 PM

What carb should I get to replace my Holley 4369? I want this car to be a solid driver . The original Holley was restored wrong and just seems to be a piece of crud. What would you suggest as a replacement? Thanks

Replacement Holley or new Edelbrock 600 cfm from Summit (uses old AVS body, etc.)

My 383 uses a very similar 4368 Holley. They flow more than the std Holley's, and when done right are an excellent running carb. I'd try to find something equivalent.

Chris, I think that would work just fine, but I'd let a real Holley expert make that call for you. They have a tech line you can use to for advice. The thing with our original Holley's were they were a bit different than the square bore you have picked there. They had much larger secondaries which bumped their CFM up to around 750cfm.

Is the one your currently running have the larger opening in the secondaries in your throttle plate? That could be part of the problem. Other problems were people liked to drill out some passages for more flow. Wrong gasket kits, and those metering blocks loved to warp causing all sorts of issues. All good reasons to move to a new one if what you have is beyond repair.

No , thats a ford replacement carb , make note of the fuel line inlet , never mind the non adjustable floats .

How about the reliable 3310. Mopar Action did a Demo on Ehrenburg's stock 383 Cuda and hot 50 horse out of the box. This article is probably 10-15 years old.

Chris: You should really consider ending that 4369 to Harms Automotive and have Scott work on it. It will not come back as a piece of crud! He is the best there is for reworking/restoring these carbs.
