on my 68RR 383, i had to use a short one off the 90 jaguar, but i did have my radiator widened to a 3 core, beware the jaguar ones don't lock up tight, and only last a few years.

I had to use the short one as well, the repops/ aftermarket are not made the same as Mopar, they wind up too close to the radiator.

Hayden 2765 is the 2 5/8" tall one

I tried the 2765, but the flange diameter was too small. It did not support the bolts properly. The 1705 non-thermal is what I went with, it's closer to o.e. height at 1 1/2" vs. 1 1/4" and the flange diameter is closer to o.e. - if not exact. Although the Hayden units have slots instead of holes, the 1705 still is a better fit IMO. You can look through their catalog online and see the specs for all of their clutches. It's also inexpensive, I think I paid about $30 IIRC.

Another alternative is to search for a TRW FC28.
The FC28 was an Mopar OE replacement, short height 2.75", closed 4-bolt hub...

Just my $0.02..

Re: Fan clutch for 68 RR - 05/29/11 11:59 PM

I'm pretty sure the height should be 1.25" not 2.75" ??
I'm not 100%, but I believe the 070 clutch - or one similar dimensionally - was used with all 26" radiator applications (not sure about A/C cars) where a Hemi, A12 Pkg, 4-speed 440, or 383 Axle Package was installed. And the height measurement was 1.25"...Someone else may want to chime in on this?

The 2.75" height spec includes the total assembly, set it on a flat surface and measure its total height including hub and clutch assembly.

Just my $0.02..

I did not realize you were using "overall height"... I thought you were using "fan height"... It makes more sense now.
