I used gold wheel paint, so I knew they were protected and were not gonna rust. My car is just a driver.

Resto Rick has a cosmoline looking paint on his website. I haven't tried it though...
http://www.restorick.com/products.asp?cat=11I tried finding the Krylon battery protectant a few years ago and not a single Kryon distributor in the area carried it. The places that could order it wanted me to buy an entire case of it so I passed.

I bought one can through Amazon I think. It does take a few coats to get the look your after. I think one can should be enough for a pair of LCA's.

Amsoil Heavy Duty Metal Protectant. is some awesome stuff, We've used it to protect boat parts in saltwater so it will do well on a car. is a deep gold color.

I'm not sure what color I used, but it was kind of a hammered gold look, and it is not that far off that once they are dirty anyone will notice.
