Do your seats have headrests? Have you chipped off undercoating from the wheel wells to see what color is underneath?

no on the headrests and not on the the undercoating but we have found traces of red in a lot of weird places --on sealer in the eng compartment, on the torsion rods for the trunk lid(along with that are being sprayed black), and behind the grille its blacked out and theres red under the blackout as well

Hate to break the news to you but the first picture you posted is an artist's drawing and not a real car...

Yes i realize that but its in a brochure from sweeden lol and its the only red valiant signet used so far in any of the advertising ive seen(especially with the black roof)

Re: for those that have seen my valiant in person - 01/26/11 05:22 AM

Yes it "could be" (and likely is) but keep in mind most of those photos were either artists renderings or just enhanced/airbrushed, to add or subtract options, etc. Sure matches the car though, my guess is that it's either the same car or it's a likeness of it!

*BTW, I'm convinced that the car was 100% red before it was painted silver. The silver paint appears to be a factory job as well, extensive coverage in every area I was able to check. Further investigation as it is dissasembled may lead to a more conclusive call on when that occured.

It was cool to get the chance to check it over in person, thank you!

*The carb is correct/original, the intake is in question. Can you get the engine assembly numbers off the front of the block (behind the power steering pump just below the head mating surface)?

Doesn't matter to me if it may only be an artit's render. I think its just plain cool to find the same car in the factory lit.

Sorry about the steering wheel but it wouldn't matter to me. Still cool.

Re: for those that have seen my valiant in person - 01/27/11 01:06 AM

Get me the casting number and I'll let you know. I couldn't see anything with all of the grime on it. If you clean it go slow and take photos all the way through.

6 13 is the date that Joe Dirt was abandoned by his parents.

I have an internal Chrysler book buried here somewhere that shows how some factory illustrations were taken from photos. I'll keep an eye out for it.

How about some details about your car. So it looks like a 273 Commando 4 speed Signet right ?
Cool car

years ago here in Canada, there was a 4 door 69 Valiant in my town. It had big dual exhaust pipes under the rear bumper. I used to see it often. Story was that it was a one owner car with a factory 383. I never looked at it up close but it was an urban legend here. Who knows?

After checking it out in person I agree totally! Found lots of different and interesting things that I have not seen on any other A-Body in 1967. Take lots of pictures when you do the restoration!
