Antenna Question

Antenna Question - 01/04/11 07:44 AM

My '69 Convertible has a fixed length antenna, and the base has a nut that takes a larger antenna nut wrench than the replacement '69 telescoping antenna.
Is the one on the car original or aftermarket?
The fender tag decodes for the AM/FM radio if that matters?

Attaching a picture would help.

Not sure of for 69, but in 70 an AM/FM car would not have a fixed antenna

I think 69 also had the telescoping antenna with am/fm.

The one on your car is wrong.
Should be telescoping.

Fixed mast for the '72 model year & up, note the use of the word 'New'.

Telescoping is what the car came with. The later antenna that Barry shows was also installed at the dealership after 1971 if it was repaired. My mom's 70 station wagon had the old style antenna snapped off by vandals and the insurance company put the later style antenna on at the dealership. The radio will work but you will have to adjust the trimmer capacitor for the new length.
