Where to get door seals?

Where to get door seals? - 08/22/08 02:56 AM

I'm in the middle of disassembling a nice set of southwestern doors for my 1972 Coronet and I'm going to need door seals. Anyone have an idea where I might be able to find them or someone that would make them using my seals (removed as gently as possible) as patterns to reproduce them for me?

I'm concerned because the are a single, seemless piece that goes all the way around the door. I fear that no one will want to take the time to tool for 4 door door seals and now I've pretty much destroyed one on a perfectly good door trying to get it off. The seal is clipped at the bottom but is glued all the way around the door frame. I hope there is some way I can get new seals. HELP!

Valley Vintage has a lot of NOS stuff. I'd get a Hemmings and call all the NOS dealers.

I don't think they are reproduced, but JC Whitney might have a generic piece that'd work?

Good luck on the hunt, and let us know what you find !

Contact Randy Gann - Dixie Restoration Parts. He's the man when it comes to seals and other weatherstrip/rubber projects. www.dixierestorationparts.com

I'll be watching this as I need stuff for my wagon.

I saw a '72 Satellite (4dr) for sale on ebay several yrs ago where the seller mentioned he used weather stripping from a Honda. I asked him for specifics, but claimed he couldn't remember. Might be worth a look to see if something else can be used.

I worry with NOS stuff that's 30+ yrs old, its going to turn to dust at the first hint of sunlight.

Good luck.
