Quick help please. Steering column shaft bare steel?

'70 Cuda. pwr. steering.

Did the shaft and coupler get painted black originally, or were they left bare?

I've seen the shaft black with bare coupler, and black shaft and black coupler, but the bare coupler seemed more prominant on the E bodies,....no indication what was on yours originally?

No clue. My car has been molested.

Mopar Muscle had an article online that showed them spraying the shaft and coupler with a paint to replicate bare steel, which is why I am asking to get the Moparts consensus... which would be the first time everyone on Moparts agreed about anything, ever.
