Jim,
Thanks for that great photo, the pics in the archived thread have been taken down..
I have a few more days of block sanding primer, before I need to put the hood treatment on...

Paint the base/clear first. Cut and buff then do hood treatment. SEM trim black is excellent for the hood treatment.

I just posted the photos above because I had them not because they are right or wrong but I noticed that the black is not to the scoop insert edge on the photos I posted. I think I have seen some to the edge so that brings up the question; "which is correct"?.....................hate doing that but I never noticed that before, sorry. Wish there was a factory drawing because I would like to add it to my '68 rr, always liked that blackout. I ordered my '69 rr in '69 with the flat black stripes cause it was cool so was the '68.

I can't seem to find the pictures I had taken a few years ago but all three of the original 68 hoods I found had the paint line (on the hood) across the outer holes for the scoops. That made the scoops themselves as the outer edge of the patern...does that make sense???

This is the best one I can find now of how the outer paint line went back on. I'm not sure if I have any of the reference shots anymore...sorry...

The silver hood photos appear to show an incorrect pattern, too large and extending past the hood inserts; basically as stated & shown by 68jim, the inserts (scoops) are the rt & lt outer perimeter of the finished blackout, and the line straight across the back and vectored off the front of the scoops are the front & rear edges. Measuring straight from the front, you can see that the angles meet in the center. It's basically a pentastar, which is kind of amusing.
