Need some Keystone mag wheels restored

Need some Keystone mag wheels restored - 02/01/10 10:31 PM

Is there a place that can restore my 15x4 keystones to brand new condition? One wheel has part of the rim broken off by the keystone center cap and I don't have the piece, I heard there are shops out there that can fab everything up? Has anybody ever had their mags restored and how did it turn out? Thanks

Here is one of the wheels looking to get redone

If they are aluminum, Mr Wheels of Indy has a great reputation.

New style Keystones are very different then the original Keystones made in the late 60's. I think around '72 they changed the style of the centers, and went unilug.

I'm in a similar situation. I have a pair of vintage small bolt Keystone Klassics, 14 x 6, for my Duster. When the time comes, I will need to have them rechromed or find a decent pair at a swap meet, which is kind of tough. I would think a competent chroming shop could do it but the metal repair on yours may be different story all together.

Regardless of what current repops are out there, the new Keystones are quite a bit different. The originals are much better looking. Crispier edges and corners with the rounded, chrome center caps. Vintage 4 inchers may be easier to find than my small bolt ones.

Yes they are 15x4 with a 5x4.5 lug pattern. They are the old school keystones the newer ones are different in a lot of ways. I will give that indy place a call, I thought there was a place in Michigan that fixes wheels as well.

Positive or negative, be sure and post your results/experiences if you go that route.

I would love to know how it turns out, I had wondered the same thing about who might could restore them.

I was lucky enough to find 2 NOS and 2 VERY NICE USED Small bolt Pattern "old style" wheels on ebay. They come up occasionally but not often.

Here's a pic of the used ones. They do look different than the new ones offered now and offered in the late 80s.
