Has anyone ever bench tested their gauges before installing into the dash? If so how did you do it? I’d like to test mine before installing in the dash frame.

Thanks.

Here is a step by step article showing how to build a gauge tester and how to use it. It also has a video demo.

I bench tested everything on an Ebody rallye dash before selling it using a car battery and a 5 volt power supply.

Speedometer: spare speedo cable and drill
Clock: + / - connections using the battery
OIL, FUEL, TEMP: + / - connections using the 5v power supply, just looking for movement not accuracy.
ALT: I put 2 road lamps in series with the ammeter and battery, the needle deflected to "D" (as pictured).

Thanks for the help guys. I only have to test the fuel, water, and amp gauge. That's all the car has.
