Rear seat/trunk divider Jute padding - 09/08/21 09:31 PM
I'm going to put some jute padding on my trunk divider and wondering if it would put a lot of weight on the flimsy cardboard. Has anybody reinforced the cardboard part that goes over the hooks?

Try light weight insulating bubble wrap from Lowe's or Home Depot, and see if you like it better than jute. Or replace the flimsy cardboard with press board.

The factory chipboard is pretty substantial at .110" thick (like my products). Some other reproduction are pretty rickety. Probably to make them easier to ship.
The factory never installed a shoddy material on those but I make our trunk dividers with or without it. And they are substantial enough to support the extra 1-1/2 lbs of material.

And put it on the inside so you don't see it from the trunk.

Ive done several using fatmat ( seat side ) with no issues .
So go for it.
