Dynacorn Challenger Bodies....

Been quite some time now since they have come out, anybody on the board have any first hand experience with them?

From what I had read on I think Cuda Challenger, sales were lackluster to say the least and they are not offered nay more. I think the MSRP was something like $17k.

Their site says still available, sounds like they build it after payment including shipping cost is received. I bet shipping is pretty expensive. $17500 for body + $495 crating fee + shipping cost. Site says new bodies coming soon.

I’d rather buy a rotted-out original..

I was interested recently and was on their website. I was hoping "new bodies coming soon" might mean a 70 Cuda. While I'd totally prefer a really solid original car, prices are insane for cars that need floors and truck replacement etc. I know you'd need a VIN and Title and a lot of little things to finish a car, but it's just a kick in the nuts to think you have to spend 20K for a rusted-out 318 column shift Barracuda in 2021 and get a tetanus shot before working on it.

Plus hood and fenders. So tack on another $2k all in. I had an old rotted Challenger that I knew was never going to be restorable, maybe I'd go this route. For me, I'd rather replace panels. I can do that work myself, so the $17k is a pretty big pill for me to swallow. Now what could be interesting is if there was a way to get a "kit car" title and use one of the hydrogen fuel cell electric vehicle drive trains for it. A totally modern car with 1970 style. Ah, if I had the time and money.

I've used a couple of there mustang bodies. I've been pleased. Freight is about $3500, a little steep.

For a badly rotted or crashed car, $20K delivered could be less expensive than repairs.

Me, and several guys I know, think a Cuda body would have been more popular, but we could be wrong.

70/71 Cuda or 68-70 charger would have been FAR more popular but its still a half baked idea as long as you need a legit VIN to get it done. They don't need real VIN's for all the knock off cobras, so why these? Sell them as rollers. From primer and gutted to painted with full interiors and wiring, just needing an engine and trans and make them easily registered with a kit car VIN.

(can't sell them complete, once complete you're now selling a new car that needs to comply with new car regulations which no old car could ever dream of complying with)

I read FCA told them to stop making them? Not licensed?

68-70 charger bodies would sell easy. People are paying crazy money for some that barely qualify as parts cars. Yard out of town had a 68 laying in the dirt that was a disaster and he sold it with no title for 11k.

on a related matter, how are the sales for their 57 [?] chevy bodies ?
i would think the challenger bodies would have a somewhat same quality as those ?
but in reality, that is more than likely comparing apples to kumquats......

I've talked with the reps from Dynacorn about the Challenger bodies, and they said the sales were terrible. I think they made like 40 bodies in the first run and only sold 15 or so shells in 4 or 5 years. So what they have is it.

Still cant figure out why they have not or will not do the 70-73 firebird bodies, those would sell like hotcakes imho.

IMO, they did not do their homework. They thought more challengers were made so they could sell more cars. Wrong. My Cuda project cars sell twice as fast as Challengers for more money. Chargers are even easier to sell. That would be the best body to make.

When a car/body needs a state-issued V.I.N. tag, the car takes a big hit financially. So, it’s no wonder why they wouldn’t sell many.

In this case that the car has not gone from clean title to bad title from an accident ect I would not be bothered by it. It's not really a kit car in my mind either.

Exactly, I have about 3 years till my engine build is done.............

Need to get AMD to make the remaining parts they don't make then you could build your own.
