Rattle can spray undercoating

Rattle can spray undercoating - 01/20/21 09:44 PM

I want to clean up and touch the fenderwells of my car.

What is the best spray can stuff avail.
I would prefer not go buy equipment for a 1 time job. Not to mention I doubt my little compressor would run a Shultz gun very well anyway

I use 3M Rubberized undercoating, part # 08883.

Problem is the factory stuff was very coarse & heavy.
I've yet to find a rattle-can that can duplicate the OEM texture.
Seems to me it's partly the nozzles, too small to get a coarse texture.
The other half is the propellant, can't get enough solid material in the can.
** somebody please prove me wrong here, with a photo & brand **

Closest I've come to it was Resto Rick's stuff & a shutz gun, but hoo boy, whadda messy process...

Thanks.

I will look into the 3m stuff.

Im not looking for dead nuts oe correct. Especially prefer to not buying equipment to do this one car.
Just something decent texture and thats better than heavy black paint like some I've tried years past

Ron, did the green can stuff have decent texture? I know it's not going to be real toothy but as Bill mentioned Im also looking for something reasonable but don't want to have to deal with the big hog nozzle schultz guns! I want to get my wheel wells protected which are pretty visible compared to the bottom.

Ive done some digging and it looks like 3M # 08883 USED to be in a green can,

Now in a white can

If I can get it local , I'll pick up a can this weekend maybe and see how it does

It won't be factory but I liked the way it dried and had a nice Black look compared to many that have a Brown look.
I experimented after these pictures with a bigger nozzle and that help to make it chunckie.

Heard a couple good reports of This Transtar undercoat, will probably give it a try.

I’ve had good luck with Wurth undercoating in the rattle can. After some practice you can get the pattern pretty close.
