Restoration Cost 70 Cuda Dash Assembly

Does anyone know what the restoration cost is for a complete 70 Cuda dash assembly? This would include everything, dash pad, rallye instrument cluster, all wiring, dash frame, etc. Thanks

If your sending it out to one of the major restoration shops that specialize in dashes, let's just say you should be ready to part with $5-$10K depending on whether it's a standard dash or rallye dash, AC, 3 speaker, and what it requires in the way of work/parts etc, etc.....

OK. That is what I was told the cost would be for the complete restoration of a 70 Cuda Rallye Dash assembly from one of the larger venders, 10K, they ship the completed assembly in a wooden crate.

I would agree with that amount.
Probably closer to the 10k for an OEM grade turnkey resto.

Here's what needs to be gone through evaluated, stripped, refinished, rebuilt or replaced.

Dash pad
Dash frame
Dash lower trim
Radio
Speakers
Wiring
Ash tray
Glove box
Light bar
Gauge rebuild
Gauge refacing
HL, Wiper, Dimmer, Fan Switch rebuilds
Gauge pod
Cluster Lens
Woodgrain bezel and backing plate
Heater or A/C control
Misc.based on options: Rear fader, glove box light, ash tray light, 4spd reverse light, Map light etc.

At those prices, you should be able to complete most of it yourself for a couple thousand dollars.

Maybe about 3500-4000 to do it RIGHT, if you do the work,new pad, rebuilt gauges, switches, new wiring, and proper paint.

When I had my Rallye gauges rebuilt, the faces were perfect and didn’t need restoration. My radio was great, wiring, etc. My point being: If you start with some very good parts, it could be less expensive.

I just assembled this one. Started out with a nice gauge assembly and only sent in the speedometer for a refresh. Tested the switches, refurbished dimmer switch. Original wood grain and plastic. Not perfect but all original parts with a new pad and working radio.

I had my eye on this one at the Instrument Specialties booth at Carlisle. It's the only thing left for me to do in the interior of my convertible. I think the price is actually pretty fair considering all the parts. Red 70 pad, gauges rebuilt with new wiring and voltage regulator. Knob restoration and glove box liner/latch. All plastic trim restored and metal frame painted correctly. I would only need to have my radio restored with the am/fm conversion which would add $400. They restored the cluster and trim for my GTX and it came out great. It may be cheaper to buy something like this all fully restored as opposed to sending all your stuff in and waiting a year to get it back. you could then sell off some of the old stuff and recoup some of the cost. They may even give you some sort of deal on a core charge for a complete dash.

I’m not familiar with red interiors but is the ash tray door and glove box door supposed to be different relative to the frame color?

Well I had a 69 Dart with a red interior, it was original and in pretty good shape and I bet there was about 4 different shades of red on the dash and components.
Same thing on my 70 RT Challenger with Blue interior........
