White dash in 71 B Body?

White dash in 71 B Body? - 10/16/20 03:25 PM

Was a White dash pad and dash ever available in a 71 B-body? My memory is a bit foggy but I've seen E-body's with white dash pads / dashboards but every restored white interior B body I've seen had a black dash.

I can't think of anyone offering a white upper dash; the reflection of light into the windshield would be nearly blinding.

I'm thinking your memory may be foggy, as mine is sometimes, but E-bodies never came with a white dash or pad.

3rd gen B body have a very light tan interior option/dash top included, E body as well offered a light tan interior/dash pad...but over the decades I have seen a handful (4 total 2 -71 Cudas and 1 -70 Challenger, 1 -72 Challenger) E bodies equipped with a white interior/white dash/consoles....original in appearance/owners claimed they bought them that way...... why/when/how I don't know, but never say never with mopar

Check out the funky interior of this 72 Charger factory showcar.... someone has to have owned it at one time, I don't think Chrysler crushed EVERY showcar built over the decades..... so when someones says they had/saw _______ doesn't mean their memory isn't accurate....

A white dash pad would be a liability. You can hardly see out for the glare.

Could get a partial white interior in a 71-4 B. Never a white dash
70-1 E could have a white interior but they had a black dash. E body white was more of an egg shell than pure white.

I'd tend to disagree, back in the day I drove a relative's Cadillac for a short period of time (1968 or 69 IIRC) that had a white interior/dash, and glare/visibility was never experienced that I can recall....

Lol. I guess it depends upon where you live. In Texas, the sun shines everyday. To say it is bright, is an understatement. A piece of white paper on the dash reflects like a spotlight. I sometimes think I want a convertible. Then I realize that you need that top for a shade. Driving my little tractor around in the summertime makes you understand why they make shades/cabs for those now. I’ve got three white interior ebodies and all have black dashes.

You want bright try Colorado. More sunshine than Florida and more intense with the higher altitude. I live at about 5000ft. which the UV's are 10% more than at sea level. Get up to 10,000ft. like at the east end of my county and were talking 20%.
White is so bright you gotta wear shades. smoke

Lol. I usually don’t make it all the way out to where you are but I bet you are right. We go to Pagosa springs and head up to Williams creek area. I can get sunburned out fishing all day in July at high altitude if I don’t have a big hat.

Real nice down there at Pagosa Springs. Ya I have to use lots of suntan lotion on my bald head.

I just recently seen a all white challenger dash on the interwebs, but I can't find it now. Back in 69 one of my neighbors who worked for Dodge had a Q5 Turquoise Coronet R/T convertible with a all white interior including dash pad, and top. Granted, that was 51+ years ago and I was only 11, but I was a motor head at that age and can still picture that car (along with all the other muscle cars in my southwest Detroit neighborhood)
Anyway, I asked because my sister has a fairly solid F-3 Green 71 satellite but the interior is completely trashed. She wants it painted Q-5 with a white interior. I guess if she really want's a white dash too, She'll just have to paint / dye it, and the column.
