New E-body Dash Pad

New E-body Dash Pad - 10/16/20 02:07 PM

Alright I just picked up my new dash pad for my 72 Challenger and it looks incredible! Final test will be when I take the car to a friends and compare it against one of his original dash cars, but he and I have been texting some pictures back and forth and overall it looks really close. The line in the pad near the windshield is not quite as pronounced as an original, but it's pretty close. For my 72 this pad is perfect! I picked it up from Ed (www.themoparshop.com) and he gets them from Alan Fox. Talking to Ed he hand picks which pads he gets from Alan to make sure he gets the best ones for his inventory. I have been buying parts from Ed for over 20 years now and he is an amazing resource for parts! And it's super convenient that he is about an hour and a half drive from me. I will be doing a series of dash related videos on my YouTube channel Life at Speed. Here is a link to the first video of the series where I discuss removal and disassembly of the dash. I have been running the original dash pad with a cap on it for almost 23 years and it feels great to finally be able to install a restored pad into the car!

Does it have AC? Better check those areas closely.
Mine from Alan was crappy, would never recommend buying from him.

It does have AC and the vent openings look good. I have heard it's a crap shoot with Alan, which is why I went to Ed to get it, because he hand picks the pads he gets from Alan.

Ok. Why would you want to buy a product that you had to pick through just to get a good one? Have you ever bought a bad watermelon?

Good looks vs good fit are two different matters at hand when it comes to one of Alan's products, although I got lucky with a Cuda dash when he was operating under the Superior Dash name, other's have had issues over the decades....but I've also seen/heard issues with Just Dashes work as well when it comes to E body dashes.... but good luck, hope it works out for you, would like to see you post back regardless

7 years ago there were only 2 choices, Ultimate Rides or Just Dashes.
Any other options now?
My dash from Alan took 3 tries to get something semi decent.
The small details are off, puckered around the right corners where it meets the plastic dash pieces.
I would never recommend buying from him unless the dash was right it front of you for inspection.
The first 3 dashes he sent were awful, 1 of them even had the plastic frame when I paid for metal.
Gave up and accepted the 4th, I’ve grown to overlook the imperfections.
Just catches your eye when you pay almost $1k for a dash and expect better.

Alan Foxx was Ultimate Rides/UR, Superior Dash, Carolina Dash, Dash Pros, and a few others I can't recall, he's currently the Dash Pad Factory...Just Dashes has still been a 50/50 shot on E body pad quality, meanwhile prices to do E body dashes with them is $1500-$2K when all is said and done....

Only other choice I see currently is ABCMoparts, the pads look great, but I've yet to hear feedback on fit from anyone personally, I've gotten feedback on their other A/B body pads and all gave great reviews, but we all know the E body pad is an animal all it's own when it comes to fitment... I'm in the market for another E body pad and I'd like to pull the trigger with ABCMoparts rather than deal with A.Foxx (pun intended...lol!)

I use to buy from Al for years. Have used several of his pads and supplied his with a lot of cores. The only way I would deal him was to meet him at a show with a core and cash. Hand pick my pad and be done with the deal. I've known guys that 2 years after paying for a pad they finial had to drive to El Paso and bang on his door to get their pad. Dante's use to carry Al's pads but don't know if he does anymore. The only way to deal with Al in either in person or pay a middleman to deal with the BS.
I now only deal with Bob at ABCMoparts. Great honest guy with great pads. I know he has been backed up with the virus thing going on. I just installed one of his pads and it really nice.

I just sent my ebody core out to ABCMoparts. He said he was a bit backed up so it would be a few weeks. I'll post some feedback when I get it back.

That's kinda douche thing to say. He was only posting his purchase and how he felt about the quality of what he bought from whom he bought it from. It's nice when a person has a nice/bad experience with a vendor and they go out of their way to posts it here so others can see.

I could see paying more if the dashes are better. only problem I have with ABC is that when I go to their site and press to make the pics bigger to view, it makes a smaller pic instead. shruggy

Dash Pros did my 2 Rear Interior Panels as Alan Foxx. He said send them they are easy Dash are hard easy job he said! Says mosty flat with a few curves easy! Then after they came back crappy he says well they are hard They were so bad I tossed them into large bags and said well they are better than nothing.
Funny that is about what he said well they were worth nothing when ya sent them and they are redone. I bought new ones from Dante he said they were the better of 2 brands that made them.
After that I would never use him for anything Dash Wise. So just Dashes got the Dash

No.

When you mention the guys' name 3 times and put a link to his business in one post............IT'S A SHAMELESS PLUG.

Moparts made a BIG DEAL out of guys having their services advertised in their signatures. I certainly had no objection to folks advertising their services, I can do my own research. But, then again, look at how many Members with tons of knowledge left this place because of that policy.

Yep, great move Moparts, but lets just ignore these B.S. pimp threads........... apimp

So your saying you don't know how to read a properly worded post? Remember, he is talking about 3 persons in the post, so he has to identify which three he is talking about for proper context. I too have delt with Ed at 'The Mopar Shop' and can say he goes out of his way to make sure I and other members are very happy with our purchases & can't say a bad thing about him. That my friend, is a shameless plug I pimped into this thread.

If I hadn't posted who I got it from that would have been the first question. So I explained who I got it from and my reasoning behind it. Don't like it, move along. If it were a shameless plug I would be getting some kind of kickback and I'm not. Just letting the community know there are options out there.

So I got my dash back from ABCMoparts and I'm quite pleased to say the least. It did take about 3 months, but it was worth the wait. Thanks Bob! up
