AAR Spoiler Paint

AAR Spoiler Paint - 07/26/20 01:01 AM

Fixed a crack in an OE spoiler but it will need painted. Did a search on here and seemed to see SEM Trim paint as most suggested. Is this still the top choice for the average resto? If so, any idea to the type, regular trim black or ultra (satin or matte)? Much appreciated!

SEM trim black does not carry the correct texture, recommend Badalson/Gibson Organosol for a better match.

Thanks for that info and if I was going for a higher end resto I'd try to go that route. At this point I'm just looking for a close color match.

I used the original Orgainsol paint on all my stuff.
If I was going to go with something else They have over the counter spray cans of stuff I have seen guys say they used here that was good. I think it was some Rustoleum Semi Glass in a large can and it has some texture.
Was hoping someone would chime in as I do have some spoilers I want to try it on. Anyone?
This is the texture and also has a metal look as it has metal in the original paint

A friend recommended the following technique for painting my dash frame, glove box door, etc. I think it would work just as well for a spoiler. Prep and spray a light coat of SEM black primer. Follow with a super light dusting with Rustoleum textured black. The dusting is really just a fog of spray shot from a distance of about 18-24” from the surface. Follow with a few good coats of SEM Trim Black. You get a real light texture as long as you go light with the Rustoleum part. The SEM paints give really good results IMO.

My pics make it look more textured than it looks to the naked eye.

I’ve never tried SEM ultra black. I think it’s supposed to be flatter than Trim Black right?
