Seat back latch

Hi I’m having trouble getting aligning the seat back to latch in my ‘71 GTX after I had new foam and covers installed. Does anyone have some tricks? Thanks

Bench seat or buckets?

Did you use original catches for the latches or the so-called reproductions that are shorter?

Bump stops installed or left out until the latch catches?

Original catches. Are you saying I should remove the bump stop to align the catch? Thanks

You can leave it out or run it all the way in.

Then adjust your latch.

Once it latches to your satisfaction adjust the bump stop so it just makes contact with the washer on the seat base.

Kinda sounds like too much padding at the bottom of the seat back or top of cushion.

Took the bump stop off and it aligned like a champ. It still latches with the stop reinstalled.
