70 Road Lamp Relay - 12/17/19 11:39 PM

Does anyone know how to test a 70 Road Lamp Relay when out of a car? Thanks

Sure. Looking at the circuit board and the mounting flange on the right side, you can measure the impedance between the upper left terminal and the relay metal body. That reading should be between 45 to 50 Ohms of resistance. If there is no impedance reading, it would appear to be a non working relay. That is the input trigger when 12 volts applied between these two positions, will close the relay and you will hear a click. The center terminal and the upper right terminal is the output side. It can be tested "dry" without 12 volts applied to this output side. Measure the resistance between the center and upper right terminal. That reading should be 0 Ohms of resistance. Any resistance will decrease the brightness of the road lamps.

These can be restored. wink

Most of us don’t own impedance testers. Most all of us DO own ohmeters.

Thanks guys. I will give this a try.
