1971 Super Bee Emblems?

1971 Super Bee Emblems? - 11/14/19 11:19 PM

I own a 71 Super Bee and my fender emblems are stick on like the decals. Is that correct??? I added a link to an e-bay ad that claims these with pins are for 70-71.
I also have a picture of a supposed original fender and can't really tell but think these may be pin on.

Which way is right or is both???

Thanks Ron

Stick ons are definitely the proper ones. If you look in a parts manual 70 and 71 have different part numbers. Now the good and the bad, bad first good luck trying to find new/nos ones. There are nice used ones out there and although it is a bit tedious double sided tape can be applied and trimmed and they look great, have done it. The 70’s are the same size and profile, you would have to remove the pins and apply the tape. I do believe the location they belong on the fender is right over the fender reinforcement not allowing any pin fasteners therefore the tape/stick on. Hope this helps.

Thanks for that information. I have very nice ones on the car that I assume are reproductions when PO did car in 2015 or so.
I'm going to be removing them soon to do a light sanding and rubbing to the paint.
It was always a question I had because of always seeing the pin on type on E-Bay.

Hi Ron,
Previous owner here. The pin type are for the 1970 hood. The hoods heat up for obvious reasons and the tape was not a good method of applying the name badges. For 1971, tape was used on the fender badges, although the font and style of the letter is the same (as least as much as I can tell). I used the factory application instructions for the location, so where those badges are should be pretty close to correct.
Hope you are enjoying the car.

Hi Steve,

The emblems are in the right places but the left side is on wrong per all the research I've done. On the driver's side it should be emblem then decal as you read it. No biggie, since I want to sand and rub the car I figured I'd ask about the pin emblems that all the seller's call 70-71.
I done many things to the car over the past couple of years to make it better and better.

This is correct as in the photo in the original post. The Bee always follows the emblem.
