max wedge tire size ????? - 08/22/19 03:59 AM

I am putting stock 14" wheels on my 64 polara.Maz wedge clone. I want an original look. I was gonna go with 215-75-14. I don't care if they smoke off.Anyone have this size tire on a 62-5 mopar or is 225-75-14 a better choice?

most Max Wedge cars had a
7.50-14 (~27.7" tall) if they existed today ~190/90/14 work skinny & tall
or
8.00-14 (~28.7" tall) if they existed today ~205/90/14 work skinny & tall

VS. 205/75/14 (~26.1" tall), 215/75/15 (~26.7" tall) or 225/75/14 (~27.3" tall) twocents too wide & still not tall enough

if you want the look twocents you have to bite the bullet at $215 each list

So it sounds like 225/75/14 is going to be the best option because I am not looking to pay $215 a tire. Those look cool but not really looking for that period correct.
I saw some kind of cooper tires that had a white wall on them. Maybe I will go that route.
Does anybody have a picture of their car with either 205.215 or,225/14/75 tire they would be willing to share. Thanks

I thought the optional tire was 9.00-14? What does that work out to?

By the way the closest modern tire that I can find at a reasonable price is the Venezia Classic in 215/75R14. It's still a little short but is probably as good as it gets on a budget. The same tire in a 225/75R15 would get you over the 28" hump if you're willing to change wheel sizes.
