Aluminum inspection tag orientation 71 Barracuda

I removed the aluminum inspection tag from my 1971 Barracuda many years ago for fear it might get lost. I remember that it broke in half at some point. I think that it was originally folded over, but not certain. Was it folded underneath the fender tag? If it was folded, did it lay horizontally, protruding outward or was it bent downward towards the battery tray?
