I have a set. along with a few other gaskets from a 70 project. Fairly certain oem, but messed up alittle at lower ends. Was going to put up on the ebay & see what happens.

Was HOPING to get some good used pieces (or better yet NOS) to provide to a US based manufacturer to get a good version of these made. there are already PREMIUM versions of these for A and B bodies but not E bodies (yet).

I'm not look for anything for free. I pay for these and the "effort" it takes to find them and through in a box.

Thanks

If I know what I am looking for I will look

A local guy loaned me all his convertible top pieces (EXCEPT THE A PILLAR SEALS, UGH). I'm going to forward them to Steele Rubber. The convertible top weatherstripping on the market now are not correct. The profile is wrong. The roofrail section ends are actually mitered on the factory pieces. The aftermarket pieces are cut straight. Steele Rubber stuff is 2-3X as expensive as the "commodity" weatherstripping BUT it one of the few time in life that you get what you pay for.

Jim,

That would be great to have some nice repros of these.

http://stores.restorationspecialties.com/92212-ws/ This is pretty close to the top rail profile. What's nice is that it comes in a length and you can install and make the cuts like you say for the miter.

The header seals in the Soffseal kits are about the the only thing worthwhile in them if you're worried about originality. The outer one once installed is almost identical and the inner one is pretty close, just the ends into the window rail need to be glued in to get their shape proper. As you said the pieces above the windows are not correct the profile and the ones at the quarter windows are no where near correct. All in all not a bad kit if you're just looking to seal things up but not 100% correct to original.

Great info Mike.

Maybe I'll put a kit together with the Soffseal header seals, I'll buy and miter the roofrail pieces from the Steele extrusion and hopefully can get Steele to do some nice A pillar seals.

Well THIS only took 2-1/2 years!

Brand new. 1970 style but fits and looks just like the 71 except has a metal strip molded into the bottom to "backup" the attaching screw like used in 70. Seems Mopar saved a few pennies and didn't put the metal piece inside in 71.

I had Finer details test fit on one of the 3 E body convertibles they had in house. I asked how they fit. They said they couldnt be any better.

Will these fit a 71?

Yes. 70 and 71. Only thing thats diff than "most" 71 A pillars is the thin metal strip molded in to backup the attachment screw that was in the 70 A pillars seals.

Still working on the new header pieces AND the top sections. The Soffseal ones that were the only ones available before DIDN'T MITER THE TOP SECTIONS. They had the correct profiles but just cut them straight!!! I do NOT understand some companies. They are probably all golfers not really car guys. For cryin out loud, MAKE THE STUFF CORRECTLY. Measure. Review the prints. Test fit. Repeat until correct.

Heres a picture of NOS ones (that I MISSED buying!) Yoiu can see the mitered ends on the top sections. 2 are sponge rubber. The ones at the back edge of the qtr glass are hard, flocked rubber.

Jim,

Do you need a set of original e-body convertible top rubber seals to use as patterns for the reproduction ?
Let me know as I have a set of original pieces (most nice enough that I planned to re-use them on my car since as you stated the current repro ones are not correct).
