I seem to recall the name Newcastle, think they were back east, maybe PA?
See if they come up on Google.

There is a long or several page discussion on yellow and red top (Group 24/27) batteries over on the A12 Registry "Playground" site. Go to the last two pages for the latest the members their have found. (CLICK HERE FOR THE THREAD LINK)

Hey guys: I just called Jim Battery, former Antique Auto Battey, and I was told they are making and shipping batteries again and will have my battery done in a week or so ( I called them 2 weeks ago), so apparently there is nothing to worry about.

Whomever talks to Antique Auto Battery please ask them what battery are they putting inside the outside case. Im curious to know. From what I understand, there is smaller battery inside the hollow case. I would think the inner battery is smaller so is the CCA rating the same?

I just finished gutting mine to install an Odyssey PC925 inside. I used a different technique to connect the cables to the internal posts.

Well, I got my new battery yesterday; the packaging is a little different, but the battery looks right and is fully charged, so I'm happy. Also, it cost me more, but that's life.

Are you able to remove one of the caps or two and see what battery is inside there?

No matter what battery tender I use, they never seem to last more than a few years.
I had a perfectly good red top working fine last weekend.
It's on a genuine battery tender.
Shows fully charged and the battery is weak and wont crank.
For no reason at all.

Im trying to gut mie now. I sliced the bottom but the bottom is thick and the cells are almost impossible to get out.
Talk about a bloody mess slicing the bottom off.
Is there an easy way to gut these batteries. Its nasty.

Yes, as a matter of fact, when I opened the box, a couple of the red caps were loose on top of the battery. I just screwed them back into their holes, which were blind holes. I put a finger inside one hole and all I could feel was a sealed plastic wall.
