A12 Cars without Vinyl Top?

Does anyone know the percentage of A12 cars that were produced without a Vinyl top? Virtually every one I've seen had a one.

The two Seattle area cars I can think of (a red one and a B5 blue) are body color tops.

I will guess it's close to 50%

Also remember it was popular back then to add a vinyl top to a car. So some you see might not be original vinyl top cars.

Guys running A12 registries would be your best source

No help on percentages but this one is sitting my garage with no vinyl top! I used to have an A12 Bee with a top and it sure was handy to put the hood up there with no fear of scratching the paint lol

number one best reason to have a vinyl roof on a Lift-Off-Hood A12 car! I agree that it could be as many a 40% to 50% without a vinyl roof on A12 cars.

Good question. Maybe Dave Watt will chime in with the answer. Mine was optioned without the vinyl top.

there are enough A12 cars that I believe the number will be "in-the-ballpark" of the vinyl top installation rate for the full model year

RM21 w/vinyl top ~23.6%
RM23 w/vinyl top ~45.7%
WM21 w/vinyl top ~28.8%
WM23 w/vinyl top ~48.8%

Here is my old A12 RR with a V top.
I had a good friend with a Bahama Yellow Bee with a top too.
I have seen more with than w/out.
I kind of like them w/out.

I do have to admit this car is on the top of my regret I sold list.

I prefer them without, but I'll say having a vinyl top with a lift-off hood car would be a huge plus, because you always have a place to set the hood after removing it!

Of course my Butterscotch car has one.
