R-M formula for '68 Q1 Blue?

R-M formula for '68 Q1 Blue? - 02/12/19 02:13 AM

Anybody here got R-M's formula for the color?
"Electric Blue" if I remember right.
This would be the solvent-based basecoat formula that they had about 9 years ago (not sure if it's changed since then, or if waterborne has different toners).
R-M is part of BASF now.
It seems to be a bit redder than what I recall of the color on my last Q1 car, also a '68.
The guy that painted the car has been no help.

Thanks in advance!

Appreciate the info; that's about what I expect for the real formula.
But yeah, that's PPG not R-M and the R-M has a redder tone than my previous Q1 car.
I need the R-M formula so I can see what's in their version.
I should probably find an R-M/BASF jobber and see what they can tell me.

R-M paint supplier should be able to help you, they did 66 Red Metallic for me a year ago. R-M was the OE paint supplier for years. I remember back in the late 60's RM was the only one to match my dads 66 Chrysler in Red Metallic and the same on his 74 dodge truck that was Bronze Metallic.

Tried that, local R-M guy said he couldn't help (?) but called his other store and they came back with the '67 red.
I've since pulled paint company #s for Q1 for 6 systems, and I'll try that I guess face-to-face with them.
Maybe they don't take a phone call for the info seriously, even though I'd be buying the material from them.
This was so much easier when I managed shops and had a great painter & jobber!

(I still have cans of R-M left over from previous restorations.)
