When did they start date coding bumper jack mechanisms?

When did they start date coding bumper jack mechanisms? - 11/18/18 05:00 PM

I have owned a few 1968 back cars & none of mine have had date code stamps on the jacks.

I have also heard over & over that the date codes on these did not start until the 1969 model year.

Then I found this A body jack with 7L on the rivet head for November of 1967 (1968 model year) so when did they really start date coding these?

I don't know the answer to your question, but here is one that came out of a 67 Coronet.

That predates mine, awesome!

Does anyone have one (or more) earlier than 7C ?

It has been a week since the last post, has anyone else seen one with a 1967 date code?

Possibly a multiple vendor issue where one vendor stamped them & another did not or ?

Yes the 67 have date codes stamped, but I also have seen a few with no date code stamped on jack mechanisms (other than 67).

Two more 1968 model year jacks with date codes, 7K (October 1967) & 7M (December 1967);

I have a 927 (67) spd with no date code on the rivits, but has the concentric rings.

maybe it had to do with different manufacturers with when the date codes started and Chrysler said it had to be on there? just a thought.

Are complete bumper jacks desirable? I have a 68 unit sitting out in my garage.
