What’s the better of the two ACC or trimparts carpet - 09/28/18 08:19 AM

It’s been a while since I’ve ordered a carpet which is the better of the two? It’s going into my 1970 satellite convertible

ACC was king till years back when there was a disaster and some of the employee's were killed in a plane crash. Seemed quality dropped after that so Trim Parts were a better carpet. In the last 2-4 years it now seems ACC's carpet quality has improved and I would go with them.

ACC purchased the Trim Parts carpet line back in November of 2016 and thus all of the automotive carpet that is available now is an ACC product.

ACC carpet hands down, go with the mass backing membrane, you'll thank yourself for spending the extra money, if your going bone stock then 80/20 loop is your only choice, if you want a rich looking/feeling carpet, go with a special order and have it made in high cut pile, with mass backing of course

Iv bought 2 carpet sets. One for the cuda and one for 71 charger. Both black. Both from auto custom carpets (through year one) and I had to pull both and re dye them. Because the sun turned them a reddish color....

Supposedly that's an issue in the past that's been rectified, I had the same experience with black ACC carpets in the past as well, but it seemed it was only with the "Grandma 80/20 loop" OEM style, I have a black ACC high cut pile carpet in my Challenger that has to be all of 35 years old and still looks brand new to this day... As well as a black high cut pile ACC in my Charger that's going on 14 yrs and still looks like new

I bought a black Trim carpet for my Barracuda fastback and it was not form fitted worth a darn. I would not sell it to anyone and took it to the landfill. I bought an ACC carpet and I have to say it was not perfect as far as the form fitted parts but it was 100% better both in fit and appearance. My car does not sit out in the sun but the carpet has no discoloration. If you order a carpet from a vendor, make sure to specifically ask for ACC. You don’t want him to pull an old Trim carpet out of old inventory!

The carpet in the cuda is 20 years old. The carpet in the charger is prob 6-7 years old. Both acc black 80/20 loop. Both turned red where direct sun light could reach....

My last experience between the two was on early B bodies: The ACC fir better but the heel pad lacked the definition in the raised areas that the car's original heel pad had, but it fit well including the 4-speed hump. The Trim Parts carpet for the next car had a more accurate heel pad, but the fit was pretty poor around its 4-speed hump. Wonder how all that may have changed if they're both the same outfit.
Bottom line, I'd gamble on ACC before Trim Parts.

I went with trim parts because summit had it for half off and then got a discount on top of that laugh2 I usually go with acc and always worked out good for me. However, I haven't bought a black one in many year, so can't comment on it fading.

I guess you bought it before you saw this thread? Hope it fits good but experience says it is not pre-formed very well to fit down in the rear floor wells, next to the rockers and around the shifter hump. Also, the gas pedal may not fit in the corner of the heel pad like original. You know the old saying “You get what you pay for”. Why do you think the pricing was so low?

I bought trim parts one from Dante’s for my 70 Charger auto. It fit perfect and was rolled up. The heel pad was in the perfect spot. The last carpet I bought from ESC was custom ordered and shipped flat at great expense. It did not fit very well. The heel pad was way off. It was a 69 body auto. You don’t always get what you pay for. I wasted a lot of money on the last one.

Well approx. 6-7 years ago I was shopping carpets. At the time I went with MotorParts South. When I say the carpet fit perfectly I mean perfect. It fit every contour of the floor pan and absolutely great around the four speed hump. There was enough carpet to trim, it actually covered the sill plate area, went well up to and past the steering column and plenty under the rear seat. I’ve recommended this vendor in the past but without much support. I am soon going to need another and only hope they can supply the same product. I originally found them in Mopar Collector Guide.

Not sure what you got in the past, but the carpet I got is definitely preformed. It's the plush style, not the loop... never liked that style and only use it when doing a car all original.
