69 Roadrunner RM21H9A Production Numbers. - 09/08/18 07:26 PM

Looking at buying a new Winter project. 1969 Roadrunner RM21H9A Lynch Road coupe with 383HP 4 speed, A31 high performance axle package and 3.91 gears. All original B3. No options. Y14 sold car. Any pinpointed production numbers on this other than the 18K or so total build of these?

Thanks !!

As common as dirt. Restoration costs will exceed the value unless every other RR on the planet is destroyed in a freak accident.

Not super rare but if it is a good solid car it would be a nice project, especially for a nice driver quality car to play with.

Here is a link to the USA Sales Reports so you can do a bit of your own research. The one thing that I have never seen is the breakdown of colours for the 1969 Model Year. Maybe one day they will surface.

If you are going to have one option on a 1969 383 RR I would think either A36 or A31 would be my choice.

Overall I do know that there were more hardtops than coupes of this style made in 69. Not saying it is as rare as some of the other cars I have but just a cool old muscle car.

Thanks Dave for the info.

Would love to see some pictures. I don’t know why but I like B3 runners. Had a project once that I had to let go to get my Super Bee

I'll post some pictures of it when I get her home. It'll be a drive while I work on it for a bit, then disassemble for paint when I get the present bugs worked out. Fun times with that 383HP 4 speed and 3.91 gears.

Neat car, well worth restoring. I wish they were as common as dirt, not that many survived.

A31 for 1969 RR coupe:

Approx 2,330 for US-spec cars

Thanks for the info. That pinpoints things quite a bit.

This one is definitely worth restoring. Restoration costs are greatly reduced when you only have to buy the parts. Labor is my own. I'll post some pictures as soon as the deal goes thru.

Neat car. The A31, four speed and color will add to uniqueness. That color would stand out.

I agree. I thought the production #'s on this car wouldn't be real high as well, assuming that 18K or so produced of the RM21H9A # could be broken down a bit. I don't recall ever seeing many of these. The 2330 reported sounds more like it.

Got here home last night. Here are a couple of shots. Blew a tire on the trailer and had to drive her 5 hours to get home. Ran great with no issues.

Re: 69 Roadrunner RM21H9A Production Numbers. - 09/17/18 05:22 AM

over 65% of the '69 coupe Road Runners had the "A87" Décor package with the upgraded interior ….. this has to be one rare RR as the least expensive when new were the quickest to get beat to death & discarded (X2 for a cheap car w/3.91s)
drive
the typical RM21 for '69 had ~$400 worth of OPTIONS, with the $102.15 3.91 axle package you are well below that ….. what else does it have? a radio?

is there a b'cast sheet?

Looks like a great project, always liked b3. I have the remains of a 69 rr, was b3 with the standard black bench interior, auto on column, 383 and had 3.91s. Was an air grabber car also with the hood stripes. I have the tag somewhere, not sure which plant it came from off hand.

Story goes the original owner bought the car to drag race. He removed allot of parts from the car to lighten it up. Took out all the seats and I assume installed a bucket. Tagged and stored everything. Had motor issues after awhile then the car sat for over 40 years in his garage. He has since passed away and the 2nd owner acquired the car. He rebuilt the drive train with no expense spared. My plan is to finish it.

Cool car, rare color, great to have all its original parts. I really like the basic setup, as per the Road Runner's original "mission brief". Blue interior?

I noticed what looks like no rad support blackout, and an odd fit between left fender & door. Take a good look around there.

Yes it has basic two tone blue interior. I'll check out those other items.

Cool. Post a pic of the tag.

Re: 69 Roadrunner RM21H9A Production Numbers. - 09/19/18 04:05 AM

Bonus points for the blue interior in my humble opinion.
Also, compare the contours of the left quarter (looks like primer) to the right (looks like original paint) at the door lock pillar, and the pillar itself. Contour there is kind of complex: should be almost concave in "plan view" (viewed from above) right before it swells convex. Compare the quarter's welded edges just inside the pillar too. Hopefully that primer isn't hiding anything. It's pretty likely that the fender is just too high at the back & too far in at the bottom, easy adjustment.

Re: 69 Roadrunner RM21H9A Production Numbers. - 09/19/18 12:32 PM

Yes there is primer in the spots that are a little brighter blue than the faded blue. Metal has been put in both side lower quarters front and rear of the tires. I agree that the fenders and doors could use some adjustment.

Been trying to get my hands on some 15X8 Magnum 500's. These on National back order for some reason? Anyone else having the same issue? This is an original full hub cap red line tire car but I don't have the original rims and just 3 of the caps. I decided I really like the magnums, same as I have on my 70 6 barrel car.

IMO, if you are not going for the as delivered look ….. work
- the all chrome "15" Magnum 500s" are too played out, try some vintage style aftermarket mags, CRAGAR SS or aluminum slots would be a better fit with an authentic vibe for a "stripper RR" twocents

Re: 69 Roadrunner RM21H9A Production Numbers. - 09/20/18 02:45 AM

I would rather do the Cragar SS like I have on my Formula S but those things drilled are about $200 bucks a piece for the sizes I want.

But, upon further review, the Cragar SS comes with the center caps. Magnums do not. Soooo, just ordered Cragar SS's from Summit.

BTW. Awesome bronze Roadrunner. My favorite color.

Yes it does have an AM radio that still works. I haven't found a broadcast sheet yet but I do have the original window sticker and the only options are A31, R11 ($61.55) and W11 (deluxe wheel covers at $21.30) totaling $185.00. I still have 3 of the original covers.
