Need to vent a little...

Need to vent a little... - 06/06/08 10:39 PM

'Been working on the front buckets outta my 68 GTX this week. I had ordered new covers from YO back around the holidays and I was a little disapointed that they weren't Legendary but they still looked good. Decided to replace the foams too and got them somewhere else and they were Legendary. Of course I know these are designed for multiple applications but they aren't even close to the OE foams. I actually got the botoms looking pretty nice but the backrests are just awful. Finally just reused the old foams on the backrests and had to pad one side up a little bit. I'm not a professional upholster-er but I do work in a new car dealership and get stuck with replacing a cover occasionally. Contrary to what I've heard the PUI covers look pretty nice, and fit the original foam good. How hard would it be to make replacement foams for these cars that actually fit??? I really hate having to pay that kind of money for a kit and only be able to use part of it...

'Got em out in the sun today and they're looking better. The one I didn't pad up is still a little loose. It probably needs to come back off and get the same treatment. I just woder how these leftover backrest foams would taste with a little A-1 sauce

I had the same issue with my 68 Charger front seats. I used legendary front seat foam and Legendary vinyl. I also had the re-use the original foam on my seat backs because the "new" foam wasn`t even close. I got so fustrated I actually had a friend who has done many sets of seats try it and he said the replacement foam was junk and used my original foam. I`ve done quite a few sets of seats myself and never had trouble like I did with these 68 seats. Try doing an early set of b-body seats...When I did those it was hard work but they came out great.
