Plastic dash vents: Dye or paint?

Plastic dash vents: Dye or paint? - 06/19/18 08:03 PM

I just repainted my dash frame and I need to restore color (black) to the plastic dash vents. Is it best to just paint them or is it possible to dye them? I'm afraid paint might flake off after the sun pounds on them over time but not sure if it is possible to do a good dye job on them either.

I have had great luck with SEM products on interior and plastic. Surface prep is very important but it is a nice product and durable.

iagree

Clean clean clean. Then use SEM Adhesion Promoter. Finally, SEM Landau Black. Spray a few light mist coats. It will be hard to tell it's painted. twocents

The SEM seems to flow nicer than the average paint.

I sprayed my green dash vents with the same laquer I used to paint my dash. I purchased it from Instrument specialties
