1970 Super Bee Manual Steering Box I.D. - 12/14/17 04:54 PM

Is this steering box correct for a 1970 B-Body? I believe it to be original to the car but I want to double check. Can anyone decipher the numbers? Does the pitman arm look correct?

Here is the box in my other sixpack 70 Bee. This is a 802 SPD car that was probably built around 8/12/69. The car has been off the road since 1973

If this is a date good I would guess it is

7 - July
02 - 2nd
9 - 1969

Thanks for the help Morty, but what do you make of my number on my box? any input?

I just called Firmfeel to see if they could decipher the numbers. He was very nice and did say that the part number ending in 49 - 2537349-2 is a bearing box, not a bushing box so it is probably the one from my car. A-bodies got the bushing box. That's a start.

I don't know what it means. I have 11 cars but only one is manual steering and that is the 70 Bee pictured.

Dan is the resident date code guy.

if
E7029G = Wed. 7/2/69
then
E06024G = Tue. 6/2/74

Dan - I think you have a little typo

E7029G = Wed. 7/2/69
then
E06024G = Tue. 6/2/74

I am not completely sold that this is a 74 box. I am leaning towards the "E" meaning 1969. Wonder what the "G" means? It may be the 7029 box assembled? or the 06024 box assembled?

So according to the other thread, that is posted above by Govierjr (nice lol) my box would decode to June 24th 1969,79, or 89.

Would a June 24th 1969 be a good date for a SPD of 9/29/69?

I am good with that....

Hello Morty,

Thank you for taking the time to post the pic of the stamped numbers on the steering box. Would it be too much trouble to clean the side of the box and get a picture of the casting number and maybe a pic of the pitman arm to see if it similar to the one that is attached to my box?

If Dan's info from the 1970 parts catalog is correct them it seems I have a A-body V-8 bearing box. Are the boxes the same angle and such? Do they interchange between A,B &E?

Dan,

Thank you for taking the time to respond to my threads!

Awesome! Thanks for the clarification. I must have misinterpreted it.

Have a great holiday Dan!
