barry, that is EXACTLY what i thought it was ! i was informed the guy that owned this car came to this area about 8 years or so ago. he befriended a guy i grew up with, and my friend ended up being the executor of his estate. as i understand it, this guy was a drag racer back in the day, and had several mopars. all the cars and parts have been long gone, and all that is left is a few tools and some trinkets. next week or so, i'm going to my friends place to look through a tool box that needs disposed of, and i may be able to get more info on this guy and his past. i never heard of this guy until saturday afternoon when i was gifted the certi card. what are the codes on the second row decode to ?

The 1968 TSB pages on certicards explain the meanings of the secondary line coding.

Re: certi card ??? - 02/04/17 09:00 PM

even Chrysler was inconsistent confused

B029M (B-zero-two-nine-M) yes, I see the second digit is a typed "O" = Super Stock Barracuda with M = special order V8 (cross-rammed HEMI)
8B = 1968 - Hamtramck, MI assembly plant
299147 = VIN sequence

there were NO letter "O" or "I" in VIN numbers until the '80s

H6X = black bucket seat interior
999 = special order paint - NONE
T3 = transmission 393 - 4-speed manual
SA = standard rear axle (on a 4-speed SS Barracuda - it would've been a b-body DANA)
218 = SCHEDULED Production Date: Sunday, February 18, 1968
***** the UAW wasn't working Sundays in 1968!

The '68 TSB says placed in owner's manual?
Where/when where the plastic engine compartment holders used?
My Barracuda is a '67 with the engine compartment holder (and yes I have the card).

Re: certi card ??? - 02/05/17 01:26 AM

In 1968 I'm pretty sure that was the first year that the card went in the little holder in the back of the owners manual. The factory ended the Certicard after the 1968 model year. What I find interesting is that a lot of dealers never put the owner's name and address on the cards as they were instructed to do.

Here is a question that I have. What was the first year for the Certicard?

thanks guys ! i knew the trim code and the paint code, but i forgot where i have the info stashed for axle, transmission, and SPD. was the dana standard with 4.56 or 4.88 gears ? i wonder if the car still exists. hopefully, i can get more info on the guy, like where he came from before moving here, where the car was raced, and if he was successful by any degree. past pics would be neat if any exist !

My certicard for my '67 GTX is riveted to the inside of the glove box door. Has been there since I purchased the car in '96.

Your certicard? That's odd, the maintenance service card is riveted to the inside of the glovebox door.
