Powder coating torsion bars??? - 01/28/16 07:24 AM

A friend suggested that powder coating torsion bars is not a good idea due to the heat they are subjected to in this process. Looking for opinions on if this would be a problem or not? Thanks in advance for any advice. Joe

Powder coat is done at about 400 degrees, I believe; in that case the temperature is too low to affect the temper of the torsion bars.

X2 what robertop said. But if you do, tape off the hex end so they go in easy

POR-15 gives very good results on torsion bars. It looks very nearly original, is very tough and is neither expensive nor hard to put on.

Just a thought......

That is what I was thinking too........seems like 400 deg or less should not be a problem in softening the temper.

As long as your chosen coater is qualified and experienced, you shouldn't have any problems.
