70 Barracuda Fender Indicator - 70 Barracuda only? - 12/11/15 02:27 AM

Is this a 70 Barracuda ONLY piece? Been looking EVERYWHERE to buy or rent one to duplicate the plastic gasket. Was hoping they were used in another application.

Yep, 70 Barracuda only. 71-2 are a little longer.
I got a pair from Classic. Thought maybe they were yours

. Not so, they were also used on some 1970 and 1971 Challengers. I have a 1971 Challenger with them from original. They are painted the same color as the car, in this case, gold. I do have several NOS sets in their original boxes, including the thin black plastic gaskets.

I did not know that. Are they the shorter 70 Barracuda painted ones or the longer 71-2 Plymouth painted ones? Why were they just used on some Challengers? Seems like the ones that I've on Challengers were the chrome ones.

I know it is weird, they are 1970 Barracuda ones. Actually I will look later tonight but I think that the boxes indicate that they were also for Challenger. I'll have to confirm that. Or maybe it is the parts book that says that. One or the other. In any case I can lend the gaskets if needed.

The part number in the parts book for a complete assembly is: 3420 727. That is the listing for 1970 "B"(all models), and 1970 "J" (all models except JH with 340. With JH 340 the part number is 2930 781 which I assume are the chrome capped ones, which is also the same number for 1970 Valiant cars. There is no specific listing for 1971 Challenger so it appears that the same information applies to 1971 cars. Which would include the 1971 J that I have.

Ugh. Do we need a LINK to an image now. OK. What am I doing wrong. Sheesh. Now I have to be a website programmer too.

I know 71 PLYMOUTH (Barracuda and Satellite) are a one off. I'm have a 3 piece gasket set for those

And I THOUGHT I saw where someone was selling a "one year only" Challenger pair on Ebay. Thought it said 72 but I'm thinking by 72 things had become pretty generic.

72-4 have a screw in the top of the chrome cap that helps to secure it into the fender. I can email you pictures of what you need if you want. Assuming your email is in your profile.

The yellow ones are 70. The others are 71-2 and yes 72 are the same as 71. 73 is when they went to the big ugly generic ones.
I was looking in my 70-1 FPM and saw that about 340 Challengers having the chrome ones. Kinda weird.

Yup, and whoever the owner is/was knew that they were also for 1970 and 1971 Challenger. PM me about the plastic gasket if you don't have one yet.

I think it is another parts book "glitch". Barry would be right about the early 340, as any rallye hood car coded with A01 would have the fender turn signals "deleted". Really, the only "J" cars that would get the fender turn signals(chrome or painted) would be flat hood and shaker hood cars.

Nope only flat hooded cars.

My N96 Challenger Has A01 but no fender turn signals so it might be auto deleted with the R/T package regardless of hood type.

Could you get them on a T/A? My guess would be no.

I know this thread is very old, but does anyone have a set of the 3420 727 new or used for sale. I am doing a restoration of an inviolet 70 grand coupe conv, numbers match and would like to get the correct fender indicators. The repo ones are 1 3/8" long, so not sure what those are for. too bad cause they are nice, but too short.
