Barracuda Convertible Top Frame Woes

I pulled the old top off of my frame yesterday and here's what I found:



It is like that on both sides. Does anyone make patches for top frames or will I have to find a really good welder/fabricator?

My coronet had some rusty areas in the same place as yours .. My body man welded in some patches and it looked great when he got done.
Seems to be a common area on verts for rust..

I would take up Tom on his offer..

I did take Tom up on his offer and he had two patches done in about 1.5 hours. So a BIG shout out to Tom Finoke for his help! I'll post pics soon.

Looks like Tom did good on the repair. It is so difficult welding on an old piece like that and have good results. The rust is embedded deep and makes it extremely difficult to over come the obstacles, porosity, burn troughs and everything else.

I poured rust remover inside mine to clean it than poured some paint and tipped it around to cover the entire inside..
Not perfect but every little bit helps.....
