70 Roadrunner Trunk Lid

Hello, My trunk lid is a bit rusty and I'm looking for another one.
My car is a 1970 Roadrunner 2 door hardtop. (no coupe B pillar post)

Mainly I'm wondering if a trunk lid from a 4 door car will work, or if that's different. (how is it different?)

What years / makes / models should I be looking at?
guessing 68-70 Plymouth B-Bodies.

This car has a 1970 Go-Wing spoiler, but maybe I could make the spoiler cut outs myself if I have to go with a pre-1970 lid.

1970 Plymouth 2 door and 4 door B body is a one year only lid. 2 door lid and 4 door lid are the same. The early 70 trunk lids do not have the spoiler provision. You can add the cut outs to an early lid. The lid is not reproduced, so a nice used lid or repairing the one you have are the only current options.

In 1970 there were 140,851 2 and 4 door b-body Plymouth cars-this does not include station wagons. Even though it is 45 years later, there are parts there.

The 1970 suggested list price from the Chrysler Parts collision catalog was $ 105.80 for part # 2934970.

Correct. My '70 came without the wing cut-outs, but I found a deck lid with the cutouts on a '70 4-door Belvidere.... go figure.

fwiw,..Being the Superbird lids had the 4 holes for the "roadrunner" emblems instead of the tail stripe, where these holes applied to whichever lid was available? In other words are there Birds with and without the trunk lid wing provisions?

My understanding was the Superbirds didn't have the cut-outs. Mine did not have them. I bought it in '78.

Do you know when your Bird was built? That might be a better indicator.

They were all built between Oct 17th and Dec 17th, and there is a list of VIN numbers in the order they were built. 178622 was mine. And I used to know, but can't recall now.

Those dates are all early so that would explain why no cut outs.

The list is when they were shipped and there are cars on there twice because they shipped twice. Friend of mine had a Petty Blue Sixpack that was listed twice. Had a quarter panel that was damaged and then repaired and shipped again

The holes for emblems were drilled with the trunk lid on the car, after body was assembled, in the metal shop. Could have been either type, but when was the Go-wing first available? That may answer when the spoiler holes were added. Once the stamping was changed to add them, I would think they all had them after that point.

So if the time frame for the trunk lid wing was after the first of the year then it appears no Bird should have the cut outs. Good to know,...and thanks guys for the drilled hole info.
