Finding a broadcast sheet - 07/31/15 04:08 AM

A friend asked about finding a broadcast sheet that is not in the car.
I have given my answer but as not to bias any answers or replies from the members that you will post I wont say what I told him.
He is watching to see what the experts have to say.
So let him have it.

Car is a 69 Roadrunner built in St Louis.

Finding a broadcast sheet IN the car from the factory now is rare. Not all cars had them from the beginning. Some had the wrong sheets. Some have been eaten away but some were removed by a previous owner. Chances of finding a sheet that had been removed is even more rare. Someone who finds the sheet has to make a lot of effort to get the info to the right people who in turn are known for reuniting them with the proper car. That being said, I reunited asheet with a guy in Sweden. I got a chance to buy a sheet for $100 knowing that I might be able to find the owner. So, you will only find one in this manner if it it lost. If you are thinking you can go to some Chrysler arkive and find one, forget about it.

I bought a 1970 Dart last year and removed the back seat and there it was just like the old days. In good shape too. Hard to believe.

I recently found one for my car behind the rear seat in my '72 Satellite. The seat had never been removed (going off the undisturbed tangs):

Trust me this car has no broadcast sheet in it. A broadcast sheet would help with the restoration.

St.Louis was notorious for discarding Bcast sheets at the end of the line. It's hard to find cars from SL with a sheet, but not impossible.

There is no central repository if you will, like PHS for Pontiacs, where you can get a copy of a long lost sheet.

Only two mobs I know of that collect lost sheets and return them to verified owners.

Galen (if he's contactable), and Barry at Hamtramck Historical.

I think the poster is thinking of the LA plant. STL sheets aren't that hard to find.

How would I go about trying to find a sheet for a Lynch road car?

If it's not in the car and someone like Galen wasn't given one if it were found by someone , or it's not being offered for sale ... you won't easily , if at all.

Best you can do is put out an ad in the lost sheet / engine section and cross your fingers ... but don't hold your breath .

Prayer..... try Barry Washington and you can TRY GTS but if those guys don't have it your chances are somewhat less than 1%. Actually digging up past history, owners and seats are more likely to bear fruit than anything but if that isn't possible, you're most likely SOL.
