best fitting carpet E body 4spd? - 07/21/15 04:26 AM

Who sells the best fitting carpets for a challenger with a 4 spd? I got one from year one , it came in a box that said trim parts on it (saw pretty much every one selling these at Carlisle) and don't like the fit. Year one says ACC makes it. I'm sending it back. Who else is there to get one from?

Dave Walden; ECS.
has the best fitting carpets hands down. Expensive, but worth it IMO if your doing a correct restoration.

I just got done doing the carpet in my 70 Charger a couple months ago.The 1st one I used was a Trim Parts brand, fit like absolute crap.Ended up throwing it away the fit was so bad.The 2nd one I used was an ACC brand. The fit was very good out of the box and even though it came rolled up there was very minor wrinkling.I bought it on Ebay, best price I could find was there.Very happy with it. ACC is ECS's supplier, but Dave's carpets are handled differently than ACC's standard run, Dave established strict guidelines for ACC regarding the production, mat'l, trimming, handling, packaging, etc, even down to tolerances regarding the driver's footmat location

I put ECS (Dave's) carpet in my 70 Challenger. It fit like a glove, and had enough material all around to go up under the dash, fit under the rear seat and under the sill plates with plenty to spare (and trim).

The shop that is restoring my 4 speed '70 Challenger said that ECS's carpet is ACC. What my restorer does, is order a ACC carpet early in the week. That way it gets delivered before the end of the week, and has only been rolled up in the box for a couple days and hasn't "set" in the rolled up state. Then upon receiving it, he unrolls it in a place that gets alot of sun, and leaves it there for a week or so before installing it.
End result is the same flat carpet ECS sells for about half the price. I just looked at it briefly when I visited the shop last month, but from what I can see, looked great!
I don't know if he orders directly from ACC or what he does. Certainly if you get it through a reseller, it may have been sitting rolled up in their warehouse for a while before it was shipped to you? Or maybe the carpet is dropped shipped directly from ACC?

Half priced?....1970 Challenger 4spd carpet directly from ACC retails for $260....same carpet application from ECS retails $299 shipped flat, not rolled

$299 shipped? Though I never got a quote, I've heard the shipping costs for getting a shipped flat carpet from ECS are not cheap. Factoring in the price of the carpet plus the shipping is where I'd been told the approximately 1/2 the total cost by buying from ACC came from.

Shipping has got to be a killer

On ECS website it says $379.00 shipped. That was yesterday. So next question is who is a reliable ACC dealer? Don't say year one

Must be a turn around.
Many years ago ACC was the only game and their carpets were not that great. When Trim Fit came out they were much better.
I guess the competition made ACC improve their product.

So who's lying to who? Year one told me in an email that their carpet was made by ACC. I said that nowhere on the box or carpet did it say ACC. Of course no response to that. I just want a good fitting carpet...
