Fuel Line Question for A12 Bee. - 04/04/15 02:11 PM
In Restoration of an A12 Super Bee, what is the correct fuel line size from the Carter pump to the T at the Six pack setup. Year One says 5/16 but it seems odd since the lines coming from the tank and the tank hanger are 3/8. I know there is a vapor separator that goes in the line also. Can anyone elaborate?
Thanks.

Actually, no 440 cars have a 3/8" fuel line. The A12 sending unit has a 3/8" nipple same as a Hemi sending unit but the A12 fuel line from the gas tank to the carbs was 5/16". Only the Hemi's had 3/8" fuel line up to the fuel pump. All 440/426 cars have 5/16" from the fuel pump to the carbs. I used the Hemi fuel line to the pump on my A12 race car in the 70's and a couple of A12 restorations since then. It's just not OE Gold if that's your objective.

That is correct, JD, I was an original purchaser in the spring of 69
and changed my fuel line to the pump with a 3/8" rubber hose.
Did it help, not sure it did, but I felt better.....

I made another post and was directed here...My friend is restoring a '68 Charger 383, 4 barrel, auto..the person helping restore it accidentally, prematurely threw out the sending unit.. Would his be a single, 5/16" line? Or would there be a need for return line? I'm guessing it was a single line but want to find out for sure for him..if it's a dual line, what are the sizes?

383 car will be a 5/16" sender without a return line fitting
