What original bolt head markings have you guys seen on your Hemi's? When answering please include the model year of your engine.

here is what one of mine has. I have 4. the other two are H bolts and I don't believe they are correct. engine is built Tuesday April 2nd 1969.. I am looking for the other two if my (4) are correct.

Got three I am building here now...2 68 casting..1 69...The 69 has an ARP stud kit, so forget that one..(I think I saved the orig hardware, though)

The 68's...

Mains= "TR"

Cross = R-S-C (the letters are arranged around the perimeter of the bolt head )..

If needed I can photograph for closer detail..

The 11/11/68 casting 70' model year engine I had used the R-S-C bolts

Another related question. Flat washers? Lock washers? Both? What diameters?

1966 engine has 3/8 thick flat washers.

Never seen lock washers...only flat...the OD is barely smaller than the spot facing on the side of the block..

Just so all of you know, I'm trying to help a local guy get the details right on his engine, he had a Chevy shop do his engine build and claim that "it's 100% correct" and so far I've found a number of things that I would deem either flat out "incorrect" or at least highly questionable at this time, just looking for other possibilities before I advise him on my findings.

That picture is from my spare block - 69 casting NOS block. That bolt has never been out of the block.

Thanks Jim, are they all the same RSC markings? These are what I have seen as well BTW.

Have any of you seen any other styles other than the first one posted?

The bolts are all the same on the NOS block. I will have to get back with you as far as the mid-68 block in the RR now. I can talk more with you at the MATS.

Scott, I have a '66 block that has "TR" bolts for cross main bolts. Is this possible. I cannot verify that the motor has or hasn't been apart though.

I'm looking at a 66 block, it has the same TR bolts.
