Challenger and Barracuda Restoration Guide, 1967-74 (Motorbooks Workshop)

I am restoring my 70 Cuda and am looking for guidance for what color to paint suspention etc and over all reference material. I can't get over what they are trying to get for this book! Is there a better reference out there? is this book really worth the money they are asking? Thanks!!

Click on "Restoration Reference Manual" and go down to 1970-74 Barracuda / Challenger including AAR's and T/A's.

Look at your old parts to get a better idea of what they once were. Also, ask questions on this site. "Guides" can give you a lot of info, but none of them will be 100% accurate.

Yes, I have that book, I bought it before this day and age of the internet. So, at the time, it was an interesting read and contains some useful information.

But, compared to today's information that is available, it's a coffee table book with a gorgeous FM3 AAR on the cover. Mine says $29.95 on the back cover.

There is a wealth of knowledge on Moparts. Search for past threads before asking questions and give back info and your experiences to this site. It makes it better for everyone.

Nowadays, not worth $29.95. There's wrong, misleading, misguiding info that you'll accept because it's a "book". Better off going to the Mopar Action website and looking at pictures of reference resto, survivors, and Nats OE winning cars. And of course ask questions and search this site for info.

I agree. Unlike book sellers, your car was actually there the day it was built, so as you look at all the original parts, it will talk to you more than any book ever could.

There were so many assembly line variations that no book in the world could ever cover them all.

I have the Road Runner resto book by the same person and there is MUCH INCORRECT info it in. Even if you got it for free it's not worth lining the bottom of a bird cage with.

I'm with you. I have that book plus many others including the Reference Manual. I read them all (sometime more then once) and enjoy them, but I also do not believe everything I read in them. Moparts.com is a fantastic resource too and can be used as a tool to discover the truth, but not taken at 100% fact. Nothing is "for sure 100% guaranteed" correct when it comes to these old cars. An unrestored original car is the best reference (if that's what you are restoring), however not many of them around anymore.

So to all the people that write the books, write the judges reference guides, share their experiences on forums like this and help out those who want to learn.... I say Thank You for making an effort!

Stick around, be friendly, and get ready to learn a lot from some hardcore great guys on here.

I can attest to David Wises reference manual. I'm used to building *cough cough* Chevys... In all my adventures to try and locate what's right and what's wrong on the Chevys I have restored I have found that most people don't really care enough. As long as it's clean and looks stock they are happy.

The reference book, in my opinion, has been the holy grail of restoration guides. For someone like me who had little experience with mopars and being "correct" it has helped In ways that I could only dream of on a Chevy.

The only "issue" that I have with the manual is that the pictures aren't in color. This makes it difficult to decipher what color is what on the original paint daubs etc.

No matter what this is a must have if you're doing an e body. I would have paid double what I did for the book, but I'm glad that I didn't have to. Thanks Dave!
