1969 super bee trunk emblem question - 11/08/14 01:04 AM

I have a friend that is finishing up a 69 bee. From what I understand the shop doing the work accidently filled the holes in the deck lid where the super bee emblem goes. Does anyone have any good pictures or measurements of where the holes go for the bee emblem on the rear deck lid?
Thanks in advance, Matt

Hello Matt,

I can get you some exact measurements off of the original trunk on my Super Bee tomorrow if you still need them.

Can you see where the dondo pushed out of the holes on the inside of decklid?

Good question but I am unsure. I have not seen it in person. He had just asked if I could get him the measurements. The deck lid I have is a regular coronet, so I thought I would ask. I am not sure but I don't think the holes go all the way through the deck lid. I think the holes go through the outer skin and the emblem is attached with barrel clips.
I may be wrong on that but that's what I remember.

You can see from the pictures that the emblems usually sat pretty low on the deck lid. I raised mine up just a bit.

The emblem is held on with a pin clip for lack of a better term. It slides over the emblem pin and snaps in the hole in the deck lid lip. One is visible with the trunk open, the other inside the deck lid behind the right bumper.

The hole in the deck lid is 3/16" diameter. I hope this helps.

That is very good information! Thank you very much for taking the time to take those pictures and measurements. That should help him out a lot.
I also want to thank Stan for sending me the information in an email.
I will pass this info along to my friend as this should clear everything up for him.
Thanks!

to be clear, I do think the barrel clip goes on first, then you push the emblem on second being careful not to mar the paint.

Does anybody know of a vendor for those little barrel clips?
